This week’s “Parish Table Talk”: Ecumenical Relations; Social Media Crash Course and More Lenten Resources plus this Thursday’s Blog post.
Watch for this Thursday’s Post:
Lent and Marriage: A Match Made at the Synod, by Edward Herrera, Director of Marriage and Family Life.
Parish Table Talk
Ecumenical Relations: February 12th marked a historic meeting between Pope Francis and Russian Orthodox Patriarch Kirill. We know that many of the parishes are involved in cooperative outreaches with other local churches of different denominations. Archbishop Lori will be joining an interfaith prayer service for peace in Baltimore on April 25th. How has your parish collaborated with the faith communities in your area?
- Social Media Crash Course: Have you been reluctant to jump into the social media world with your ministry? Then consider the Catholic Apostolate Center’s Social Media Crash Course, a resource to help you get started on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.
- More Lenten Resources: In case you missed some of these in the NCCL CL weekly email (or if you don’t receive this), they are posted on the archbalt website.
Glad the Archbishop is encouraging ecumenical dialogue and prayer. Perhaps this will encourage some of our Pastors to do so. Frequest the initiative and first step must come from Catholics!
It is important that all of us engage in ecumenical good works. When I worked at a parish, it was easy to become inward looking, to serve only those who were coming to my parish. The laity have an important role in reaching out to all of our brothers and sisters. The strength of engaging with other service organizations and religious groups is the synergy to meet the needs of the extended community. Our works of mercy will reach so many more people!
