Mission Matters: July 11, 2017
This week’s “Parish Table Talk”: Convocation videos; Spiritual Exercises; WYD Unite; Article on evangelization and marketing strategies; plus: changes to our blog.
Breaking News: As of this week, we will be moving to a weekly blog post on Tuesdays. We will continue to post “Mission Matters” on a regular basis; but some weeks individual posts that go deeper into mission and ministry will replace it. We’ll be focusing on quality, not quantity, and hope you find our posts helpful! As always, we are eager to hear from you with whatever questions, comments, or suggestions you may have. Our only purpose is to offer you support and resources as you pursue your local ministries and missions to be and make missionary disciples. Thank you!
Parish Table Talk
• Convocation “The Joy of the Gospel in America” Videos: After returning from the Convocation of Catholic Leaders, the graces, inspirations, and invigorating discussions are something we want to share throughout the Archdiocese. The USCCB has compiled 32 videos from the Convocation which can be viewed on their website or on Youtube.
• Spiritual Exercises: Are you looking to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ? Are you looking to reform your life so that you can allow the grace of God to flow through you more easily in order to reach others? The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola will leave with a greater fire inside of you to go and “make disciples of all nations” for Christ. The Miles Christi religious order offers these retreats throughout the country, and there are also many offerings in Maryland at the Loyola Retreat House on the Potomac.
• WYD Unite in DC: World Youth Day UNITE is a national young adult (18 to 39) and young family festival where thousands will gather at The Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, D.C. for amazing worship, inspiring talks, engaging break out groups, incredible music with Audrey Assad and Tony Melendez, and more. Check out their website, and share their flyer and their suggested family friendly schedule.
• Evangelization and Marketing – an article for your reflection: In anticipation of the Convocation last week, Msgr. Charles Pope wrote this article on the paradoxes of evangelization and how they compare the secular marketing schemes. Hopefully you will find his insights useful for your reflection.
